Abu Dhabi
The United Arab Emirates (UAE), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has evacuated 210 individuals from Gaza on Wednesday night, including critically wounded patients, children, and cancer sufferers, to Abu Dhabi for vital medical treatment. The patients, accompanied by 124 family members, were flown from Ramon Airport in Israel through the Kerem Shalom crossing.
This evacuation marks the UAE’s 22nd initiative of this kind, part of a broader effort to assist Palestinians amid ongoing humanitarian challenges in Gaza. Mohammed Al Shamsi, UAE’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations, emphasized the UAE’s continued commitment to supporting Palestinians through advanced healthcare and relief initiatives.
The mission is part of a larger effort, launched by President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to treat 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients in UAE hospitals. To date, over 2,100 patients have been evacuated. Additionally, the UAE has provided significant medical and humanitarian assistance, including over 43,000 tonnes of aid to the Palestinian people.
