Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke with American billionaire Elon Musk on Thursday, a day after congratulating Donald Trump on his re-election as President of the United States. Meloni, who referred to Musk as a “friend,” expressed her belief that Musk’s commitment and vision would be a valuable resource for both the United States and Italy, fostering collaboration to address future challenges.
Musk, who had strongly supported Trump during the election campaign, was praised by the former president as a “special guy” and a “super genius.” Meloni shared her conversation with Musk on social media, expressing confidence in his influence on future global issues.
In a past meeting, Musk had described Meloni as “even more beautiful on the inside than she was on the outside,” and praised her authenticity. The comments sparked rumors about their relationship, but Musk later clarified that they were not romantically involved, stating they were just friends.
Musk, who has been involved in discussions on artificial intelligence, had visited Rome in December to attend an event hosted by Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party, where he gave advice on Italy’s low birth rate and the importance of a new generation.
Meloni’s office also confirmed that she had a call with Trump on Wednesday evening, where they discussed their strategic partnership and agreed to cooperate on international issues such as the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.
