Christchurch
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has announced a nine-day Trophy Tour of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday, celebrating the team’s historic victory earlier this month. The tour will run from November 2 to 10, starting in Christchurch, where the team will be welcomed by fans at a special event.
The World Champions will engage with supporters at various public events across the country. Fans will have the opportunity to meet team members, take photos, and get autographs, along with a chance to see the trophy up close. The team will also visit local cricket clubs and schools during the tour.
NZC’s GM of Marketing Communications, Stacey Geraghty, expressed enthusiasm for the tour, stating it’s a perfect way for the public to connect with the team after their monumental win. ‘This victory is a significant moment for women’s cricket in New Zealand, and we’re eager to celebrate it with the fans,’ she said.
The T20 World Cup trophy will also be displayed at all New Zealand women’s matches throughout the summer. The WHITE FERNS, as the team is known, are excited to inspire future generations and express their gratitude for the public’s support.
New Zealand made history by defeating South Africa by 32 runs in the T20 World Cup final, marking their first major trophy since winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2000.
