As India A prepares to take on Australia A in a four-day match starting today, all eyes will be on Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Prasidh Krishna. Their performances will be crucial, especially with the upcoming five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series set to begin on Nov 22.
Easwaran, the vice-captain of India A, is under particular scrutiny. The 29-year-old opener has been in excellent form, scoring centuries in recent First-Class matches, including 157 and 116 in the Duleep Trophy. He is seen as a potential replacement for Rohit Sharma if the captain misses any matches for personal reasons. Easwaran has played 99 First-Class games, accumulating 7,638 runs with 27 hundreds.
In contrast, Nitish Kumar Reddy, primarily selected for his pace-bowling skills, has had a less impressive record, with his best score being just 40 in the Duleep Trophy. His performance will be closely monitored to see if he can deliver against a strong Australia A team featuring notable players like Cameron Bancroft and Marcus Harris.
Prasidh Krishna, a late addition to the squad, is looking to regain his rhythm after recovering from injury. He has taken only seven wickets in his recent outings and hopes to impress the selectors.
Other players, including Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, will also seek to make a mark as they vie for spots in the senior team.
