Cricket Australia on Wednesday has extended the contract of men’s team head coach Andrew McDonald until the end of the 2027 season. McDonald, who took over after Justin Langer’s departure in early 2022, will lead the team through several key tournaments, including the 2027 one-day World Cup in South Africa.
Since his appointment, McDonald has guided Australia to impressive successes, including winning the World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup, along with retaining the Ashes in England. His contract extension will also see him manage Australia’s efforts to reclaim the T20 World Cup and the Champion’s Trophy in 2025.
The extended period includes a busy 13 months of Test cricket, with away series against India and England, and the celebration of the 150th anniversary Test at the MCG.
