Dress code implemented in all temples under Muzrai dept’s jurisdiction

The Muzrai Department has established a dress code for all temples in Kolar district, urging devotees to wear traditional and modest attire while visiting. This new rule is displayed clearly on banners, posters, and boards in all temples, including the well-known Kolaramma temple.

Under the guidelines, men are allowed to wear dhotis, panche, or pants with shirts, while women can choose sarees, churidars, or kurtas. However, certain clothing items like Bermuda shorts, midi skirts, tight jeans, t-shirts, night pants, and sleeveless tops are not permitted. Although some temples had previously enforced similar rules, the lack of consistency led the department to implement stricter measures.

Additionally, the Muzrai Department has responded to concerns about priests placing arathi plates on top of donation boxes. To address this, boards have been installed to clarify that money in plates is for the priests, while money in hundis is meant for temple development. Muzrai Tahsildar Sujata mentioned that similar instructions have been given to other temples.

Many temples in the district are now equipped with electronic donation boxes, enabling devotees to contribute digitally. Online payment options for pooja fees have also been introduced for convenience. For example, the Sithi Bhairaveshwara Swamy Temple has established traveler accommodations to improve visitor comfort.

To maintain the sanctity of the temples, photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum sanctorum, with signs displayed to remind visitors.
