The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police are investigating Manjula Patil, President of the Nalapad Brigade’s Kalaburagi unit, and her husband, Shivaraj Patil, for an alleged extortion scheme linked to Congress leader and former Minister Malikayya Guttedar. The case gained attention when police found private videos on Manjula’s phones, featuring eight individuals, including politicians and officials.

As part of the investigation, the CCB plans to send these videos to a forensic laboratory to confirm their authenticity. The issue came to light after Malikayya Guttedar’s son, Ritesh Guttedar, filed a complaint, which led to the couple’s arrest. Manjula and Shivaraj reside in Vijayanagar Colony on Aland Road in Kalaburagi.

While examining six mobile phones seized from Manjula, police discovered video clips involving various political figures, which raised suspicions of blackmail. Authorities believe the couple was trying to extort money from multiple people using these videos.

Additionally, some messages sent by Manjula were deleted, prompting the need to send the phones to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for recovery. The accused allegedly made calls from different mobile numbers to demand money, storing video call recordings on a pen drive for extortion. The investigation has revealed a pattern of similar attempts to extort money from various individuals. As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities plan to conduct a thorough search of the couple’s residence in Kalaburagi.
