Bank robbery at SBI branch in Nyamathi, thieves break in, steal cash and jewelry

Thieves broke into the State Bank of India branch on Nehru Road in Nyamathi town of district, and stole cash and jewelry. Police suspect the crime took place two days ago.

The robbery is believed to have been carried out on Friday night, as the Bank remained closed over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The burglars broke the window grills to gain access to the bank. After thoroughly searching the premises, they managed to break open the main locker, stealing the cash and jewelry stored inside. Along with the valuables, the thieves also made off with the CCTV DVR system, likely in an attempt to erase any evidence.

On Monday morning, the incident came to light when the bank staff arrived for work and noticed the break-in. They immediately informed the Nyamathi police. A police team, led by Inspector N.S. Ravi, quickly arrived at the scene and began their investigation. Initial reports suggest that jewelry worth crores of rupees might have been stolen. The police are awaiting the arrival of the dog squad and fingerprint experts to assist in the investigation.

Inspector NS Ravi stated, the burglars broke the window grills and looted the bank. The incident could have occurred on Friday or Saturday. The dog squad and fingerprint experts are on their way to help us determine the details. Once they complete their assessment, we will be able to confirm the amount of cash and the value of the stolen jewelry. An FIR will be filed based on this information.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are making every effort to identify the culprits and recover the stolen valuables.
