A mid-air collision between two light planes in Sydney has resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The incident occurred on Saturday in Belimbla Park, approximately 65 kilometers southwest of central Sydney.

Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of the collision, and upon arrival, police confirmed that three men were found deceased at the crash site. The crash has led to the establishment of two crime scenes in close proximity to where the aircraft went down.

According to local reports, one of the planes caught fire upon impact. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) announced that the aircraft involved were identified as a Jabiru and a Cessna 182. The ATSB stated that a team of transport safety investigators from Canberra would be dispatched to the accident sites to collect evidence and begin their investigation.

In the coming days, investigators will conduct site mapping, examine the wreckage, and recover relevant components for further analysis at the ATSB’s technical facilities in Canberra.

Authorities have advised local residents to steer clear of the area as the investigation unfolds.
