The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the completion of targeted strikes on military sites in Iran, with IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stating that Israel achieved its objectives. On Saturday Hagari emphasized that those who threaten Israel will “pay a heavy price.”
According to Iranian state media, the attacks caused limited damage in some areas, with Iran’s air defense force claiming to have successfully thwarted the aggression. Iranian officials reiterated that Iran is prepared to respond to any acts of aggression, promising a proportional reaction to Israeli actions.
In a video statement, Hagari said, “We conducted targeted and precise strikes on military targets in Iran, thwarting immediate threats to the State of Israel.” He warned that any new escalation from Iran would be met with a decisive response.
The IDF’s operation targeted missile manufacturing facilities and surface-to-air missile systems used against Israel, emphasizing that Iran has launched hundreds of missiles at Israel in recent months and supports terrorist activities through regional proxies. The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed that the strike was a direct response to Iranian attacks over the past year.
This military action follows a series of tensions that escalated after Iran launched approximately 200 ballistic missiles toward Israel on October 7. Israeli state television reported explosions heard in Tehran, attributed to air defense activity aimed at countering Israeli strikes.
As the situation remains fluid, the Israeli government continues to assert its right to defend its citizens and maintain military readiness in the face of potential threats from Iran.
