Vidya Balan turned down the chance to star in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 because she worried that a poor performance would damage the legacy of the original film, where she played Avni/Manjulika alongside Akshay Kumar. Released in 2007, Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a big hit, and Balan felt the pressure of living up to that success. She told the director, Anees Bazmee, that she couldn’t take the risk.
However, when offered a role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Balan loved the script and was eager to work with Bazmee again. She was especially excited to dance with Madhuri Dixit for a new version of the iconic song Ami Jo Tomar. Balan appreciated how well the sequel turned out, which helped her decide to join the third installment, set for release on Diwali, November 1.
At the song unveiling event, she shared her excitement about performing with Dixit, saying it was an honor. Despite a slip during the dance, Balan handled it gracefully, highlighting how challenging it was to match Dixit’s energy. Dixit expressed her admiration for Balan and her joy at being part of the film, reflecting on her long-held dream of performing the song. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 also stars Triptii Dimri, Rajpal Yadav, and others.
