Abhimanyu Kashinath, son of the renowned filmmaker Kashinath, reflects on how his father’s legacy has influenced his life and career. While he deeply respects his father’s accomplishments, he views him simply as Appa. Kashinath, celebrated for his innovative films, never pressured his children to follow in his footsteps. Instead, he encouraged Abhimanyu to pursue his own passions, like cricket. He always told me to create my own identity, Abhimanyu recalls, emphasizing how this freedom allowed him to carve out his own path.
When asked about their discussions on filmmaking, Abhimanyu shares that they rarely talked about it. He reveals that he only watched his father’s films like Anubhava and Anantana Avantara during college, due to restrictions at home. Watching Anantana Avantara with friends left a lasting impression on him, making him realize his father’s forward-thinking nature.
Now, as he prepares for the release of his latest film, Ellige Payana Yavudo Daari, Abhimanyu reflects on his journey in the industry. This film is his third, following Baji and 12AM. Acknowledging a gap in his career, he states, After cricket didn’t work out, I took acting seriously.
He praises director Kiren Suryaa for the film’s detailed character development and shares a unique challenge he faced: portraying smoking scenes despite being a non-smoker. Excited about this new project, Abhimanyu feels confident from his past experiences with different directors.
