Indian footballers selected for training at Old Trafford

Three talented Indian footballers – PC Lalchhuanawma (Mizoram), Shreejal Kisku (Bhubaneswar), and Mohd Ayan (Lucknow), have been selected to train at Manchester United’s iconic Old Trafford stadium. Gary Nevillesaid in an event on Saturday, they will be joined by Nepal’s Bhakta Bahadur Pariyar and Chanason Chaiyatham from Bangkok. This opportunity comes after their success in the fourth edition of the grassroots football initiative, United We Play.

The initiative, which saw over 15,000 aspiring footballers from 18 cities across India, concluded with a grand finale in Chandigarh, featuring Manchester United legend Gary Neville. At the finale, the five players earned their spots for the coveted training program in Manchester. Their experience will include a match-day visit, training with Manchester United Soccer School coaches, and interactions with club legends.

Gary Neville, reflecting on the event, said, ‘Delighted to see the dedication and passion for football among young children in India. Many congratulations to the young players whose hard work has paid off today. I am sure that the experience that they will have at the iconic Old Trafford will be memories of a lifetime.’

The latest edition of United We Play was launched in Kolkata last December, with former Manchester United player Louis Saha inaugurating the program.
