Joshua Cheptegei, the Olympic record-holder in the men’s 10,000m event, highlighted the importance of running for a healthy lifestyle as he prepares for the Delhi Half Marathon for today. Cheptegei believes that fitness is closely tied to running and encourages everyone to incorporate it into their daily lives to combat lifestyle diseases.
‘At every stage of life, running can help us stay fit and healthy. Let us run for the future and make it a lifestyle,’ he stated at a media event ahead of the marathon. Cheptegei is particularly excited about this race, marking his seventh visit to India, where he has always experienced success.
While acknowledging that this will be his third half marathon, he expressed confidence in his training, stating, ‘I am still learning the distance and hope my preparations will pay off.’ Cheptegei will compete against Ethiopia’s two-time 5000m World Champion Muktar Edris, who recently defeated him in a 10-mile race, adding a competitive edge to their upcoming clash in Delhi.
