Six arrested for theft of livestock

A livestock theft case has been solved following a complaint filed by a resident of Doddajala village at the Chikkajala police station on September 17. The complainant, a farmer who owns ten cows and 25 goats, discovered that 15 goats valued at ₹1.8 lakh were stolen from his barn on September 16.

In an attempt to locate his missing goats, the complainant visited nearby villages, Billamaranahalli and Shettigere, where he learned that similar thefts had occurred. Subsequently, a case was registered at the Chikkajala police station. The police launched an extensive investigation and, on September 26, apprehended six suspects near the Chikkabanavara pipeline, seizing a Bolero vehicle with 15 stolen goats.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to stealing livestock and selling them in Hospet, Koppala, and Bellary for profit. A total of ₹2.44 lakh in cash was recovered from the sale of 14 goats. Overall, 29 goats, cash amounting to ₹2.44 lakh, and the vehicle used in the crime were seized, bringing the total value of the recovered items to ₹11.99 lakh.

On September 27, the three suspects were remanded to police custody, while the remaining three were placed in judicial custody. This successful operation was led by DCP Sajeeth VJ and ACP Navinakumar L., under the guidance of Inspector Ananda from the Chikkajala police station.
