The Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, expressed regret over discrimination in providing basic facilities to government schools. During the inauguration of a career guidance and skill development program in Belagavi and Kalaburagi divisions, he noted that politicians speak about equality, but implementation has not been successful. He mentioned that computers and other facilities have not been provided to all government schools as promised. Specifically, 600 schools in Belagavi and Kalaburagi lack computers.

The Minister stated that if computers were provided, software could be implemented, and the India Literacy Project could be launched with the help of corporate partners like Dell and Cognizant. He highlighted that 4 lakh students are enrolled in 2,400 government high schools in these divisions.

An appeal was made to corporate houses to assist with computer donations. The Minister clarified that the Congress government is not solely to blame for these issues, which have existed for years. Progress is being made to address them.

Madhu Bangarappa thanked corporate partners for their support, noting that the Azeem Premji Foundation will provide eggs to students for three years at a cost of Rs 1,591 crore. The India Literacy Project will be expanded to the entire state gradually. Concern was raised over low enrollment in government schools, leading to the introduction of LKG and UKG sections to attract more students.
