In a media briefing, State AAP President Mukyamantri Chandru condemned the state government’s handling of the Hubli riots case, urging it to avoid a discriminatory approach. He highlighted that over the past decade, numerous cases have been filed against pro-Kannada and pro-farmer activists, including members of his party, for their protests.
Chandru pointed out the ongoing struggles of various activists, including former Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao, who has fought against corruption and advocated for public issues like road repairs and the controversial appointment of corrupt officials. He expressed frustration that the government seems overly focused on one case while neglecting the broader concerns of citizen activists.
He noted that it has been nearly 10 months since a request was made to Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil to withdraw cases against these activists, calling the delay an insult to Kannadigas. Chandru urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to intervene and dismiss all charges against the activists, demanding the government demonstrate its commitment to the people of Karnataka.
