Aster DM Healthcare has introduced India’s first Intra-Operative Electron Radiation Therapy (IOeRT) at the Aster International Institute of Oncology in Whitefield, Bengaluru. This innovative technology delivers targeted radiation directly to the tumor site during surgery, reducing the need for multiple post-operative sessions and minimizing damage to healthy tissues.
The therapy allows for immediate radiation treatment after tumor removal, improving precision and accelerating recovery for patients. Aster officials highlighted that IOeRT will address the increasing cancer cases in India, especially for complex cancers like breast and lung cancers.
