Residents of Bangalore’s suburbs have received encouraging news regarding the long-awaited supply of Kaveri water. The inauguration of the Cauvery 5th phase project is scheduled for October 16, marking a significant milestone for 110 villages under BBMP.
The project, initiated by Jalmandali in 2019, has incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs 5,500 crore and is now complete. The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister will officially launch the project at the Jalmandali premises in TK Halli.
Following the Dussehra festival, Cauvery water is expected to begin flowing to these villages. The project aims to provide 5 lakh water connections, with over 50,000 residents already receiving service. Initially, 170 MLD of water will be supplied, with additional supplies planned in subsequent phases.
The Cauvery water supply will benefit areas such as Yeshavantpur, Dasarahalli, Bommanahalli, Mahadevpur, and RR Nagar assembly constituency, fulfilling a long-held aspiration of the local communities.
