Motegi
The weekend at Mobility Resort Motegi was challenging for the Repsol Honda Team, with Luca Marini finishing 14th and Joan Mir’s race ending abruptly on the first lap. The team faced fluctuating weather and conditions throughout the Japanese GP, adapting to each situation. Despite a brief shower during the Moto2 race and questions about using wet bikes, the MotoGP race was completed entirely on slicks.
Luca Marini showcased his determination by recovering from a tough start. Initially falling behind, he steadily gained positions, overtaking riders like Rins and Fernandez. Crossing the finish line in 14th, Marini added points to his 2024 total, ending a difficult weekend on a positive note. He expressed satisfaction with his performance, emphasizing that they are building confidence as the season progresses.
Unfortunately, Joan Mir’s race was short-lived. After a promising start that placed him in 14th position, he was hit from behind by Alex Marquez, causing him to crash. Fortunately, he escaped injury but left Japan disappointed after the initial promise shown earlier in the weekend.
The Repsol Honda Team is gearing up for a well-deserved week off before heading into another three-race stretch, with the next competition set for October 18 at Phillip Island for the Australian GP. Marini reflected on the weekend, stating they have learned valuable lessons to prepare for next year.
