Lima Junior Worlds: Aashima Ahlawat misses women’s trap medal

Aashima Ahlawat, a women’s trap shooter, finished fourth at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, narrowly missing out on a medal due to having a higher bib number. This event featured both men’s and women’s trap finals, and Aashima was the standout performer for India.

In the final, Aashima hit 25 targets after the first seven rounds, matching Italy’s Sofia Gori. However, Gori qualified second with a score of 115, while Aashima secured the fifth spot with a total of 113 over two days of qualification.

Among the other Indian competitors, Bhavya Tripathi finished ninth with a score of 110, followed by Sabeera Harris in 16th place with 105, Rajkuwar Ingle in 33rd with 97, and Nilaa Rajaa Baalu in 38th with 93. Bhavya, Sabeera, and Rajkuwar combined efforts to place sixth in the team event.

In the junior men’s trap competition, Shardul Vihal and Zahir Khan both scored 109, finishing 34th and 35th in qualification, respectively. Syed Ahyan Ali placed 40th with 108, and Laksya Atree scored 102, landing in 55th. Bakhtyaruddin Malek also shot 109 but was placed 32nd on countback and participated in the team event, contributing to India’s eighth-place finish.
