A clearing operation for pedestrian pathways was conducted on Church Street Road within the East Zone area. Under the leadership of East Zone Commissioner Smt. Snehal, the operation took place. Shop and store owners had already been warned multiple times to refrain from encroaching on pedestrian pathways. Despite these warnings, many continued to obstruct the pathways, causing significant issues for pedestrians. Approximately 50 shops on both sides of Church Street had encroached upon the pedestrian pathways, leading to the removal of materials blocking these areas. The clearing operation spanned around 1 km of Church Street and involved police personnel, municipal officials, and marshals working in coordination. Over 20 gang men, along with 2 tipper trucks and 6 tractors, were utilized to clear the materials blocking the pedestrian pathways, which were subsequently seized by the municipality. All shop owners were once again cautioned against further encroachment. The presence of food vendors on pedestrian pathways poses health and sanitation risks. Additionally, using cylinders in open areas increases the potential for accidents. Encroachments hinder citizens from walking safely, which also creates problems for vehicular traffic, thereby raising the likelihood of accidents. Also present during the operation were Joint Commissioner Saroj, Executive Engineer Munireddy, and other relevant officials. The East Zone Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining clear pedestrian pathways to ensure the safety and accessibility for all citizens.
