Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that simply talking about symbolic matters cannot feed people. Speaking at the Dasara celebrations on Thursday, he said his government is focused on fulfilling election promises by implementing social and economic empowerment programs.
During the election campaign, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar had pledged at the Mother Chamundeshwari temple to roll out five guarantee schemes if they won. True to their word, within eight months of the victory, all five schemes have been implemented.
The Chief Minister stressed that these initiatives are designed to empower weaker sections, both socially and economically, as envisioned in the Constitution. Families benefiting from the five guarantee schemes are receiving financial support amounting to Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 annually.
Siddaramaiah highlighted key schemes like the Grilahakshmi Yojana, which provides Rs 2,000 to 1.21 crore household owners, and the Griha Jyoti Yojana, offering free electricity to 1.40 crore families. Additionally, 1.82 lakh unemployed graduates and diploma holders are receiving financial aid under the Yuva Nidhi Yojana.
He expressed gratitude for the favorable rains this year, with 99% of monsoon sowing completed, ensuring a prosperous harvest for the state’s farmers. Siddaramaiah also prayed for more rain and abundant crops, encouraging people to participate in the grand Dasara Mahotsav, which he called a festival for everyone to enjoy.
