Amid rising tensions in Sudan following an attack on the UAE ambassador’s residence in Khartoum, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is closely monitoring the security situation. The MEA expressed concern over the attack, emphasizing that the inviolability of diplomatic premises must be upheld during conflicts. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, We are following the security situation in Sudan. Reports of the attack on the UAE ambassador’s residence are of serious concern.

Earlier this week, the UAE reported that a Sudanese military aircraft had targeted its ambassador’s residence in Khartoum, condemning the incident as a heinous attack. In response, Sudan’s military government denied the accusations, attributing the attack to the rival paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The government has accused the UAE of supporting the RSF, which has been engaged in a brutal conflict for over a year.

The military regime has claimed that the UAE provides arms and support to the RSF, intensifying the violence that has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and a humanitarian crisis. Sudan’s UN ambassador previously accused Abu Dhabi of enabling the RSF, describing it as a key factor in the ongoing conflict. The UAE, however, has labeled these claims as disinformation, asserting that its focus is solely on promoting peace and easing Sudan’s humanitarian crisis. According to the UN, nearly 25 million people in Sudan require assistance, with famine looming as heavy clashes continue in Khartoum.
