The Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), alongside the International Kho Kho Federation, announced on Wednesday that India will host the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup in 2025. This exciting event will see participation from 24 countries across six continents, featuring 16 teams each for both men and women. The World Cup aims to celebrate the essence of Kho Kho while promoting global unity.

Originating in India, Kho Kho has evolved significantly, transitioning from its traditional mud roots to a more formalized mat sport with a growing international presence. Currently, 54 countries engage in Kho Kho, highlighting its widespread appeal.

To build momentum ahead of the World Cup, the KKFI plans to introduce Kho Kho to 200 elite schools across ten cities, aiming to register at least 50 lakh players. Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the KKFI, shared his excitement for the tournament, stating that it will not only foster competition but also cultural exchange. He envisions Kho Kho becoming an Olympic sport by 2032, with this World Cup as a crucial step toward that goal.

The tournament will feature a week-long series of matches, showcasing top athletes from around the world as they display their skills, agility, and teamwork. This initiative aims to elevate Kho Kho to the international stage and solidify its future in global sports.
