The opening of Sita Vana, located near the Almatti dam site, is expected to be postponed due to a lack of funds. Sita Vana is planned to be established at Sitimani Hillock, the highest point in the area, known for its Sita temple, which is linked to local religious beliefs.
The site is associated with the legendary visit of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lava Kusha. The Department of Archaeology has already recognized and developed ponds in the area, named Lava and Kusha Honda. Additionally, the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL) has developed part of the area into a Lava-Kusha garden.
However, the proposed development of Sita Vana, which will be adjacent to the garden, has been halted due to financial constraints. The KBJNL has stated that Sita Vana is designed to illustrate the first part of the Ramayana through sculptures and murals, featuring 17 scenes from Sita Swayamvara to her exile.
GC Muttaladinni, Convenor of the Krishna Teera Mulugade Santrastara Kshemabhivruddhi Samsthe, mentioned that Sita Vana was supposed to open a year ago. Many works have been delayed or canceled due to funding issues, and he urged the government to allocate necessary funds, at least from revenue generated at the Almatti gardens.
