Krasna Diagnostics, a medical laboratory based in Pune, Maharashtra, has temporarily halted all services in 14 districts, including Yadagiri, due to unpaid dues from the state government. This suspension has disrupted CT and MRI scanning services in hospitals across Yadagiri, Kolar, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Chikkamagalur, Karwar, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Haveri, Davanagere, Udupi, and Bagalkote, leaving many patients in distress.
Under an agreement established on May 24, 2017, Krasna was providing free MRI and CT scans to patients, with the government reimbursing the lab based on Aadhaar card details. With the suspension of these services, patients who relied on government hospitals now face costs ranging from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 3,500 at private facilities. Daily, around 55-60 patients in Yadagiri benefited from free scans, but now pregnant women with serious conditions are struggling to afford necessary procedures at private centers.
In response to the situation, Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao has instructed officials to investigate. They indicated that funding was not an issue, but concerns regarding documentation had led to the suspension. MLA Sharangowda Kandakuru has also urged the Health Minister to take immediate action to address the suffering of patients.
