Kempkeri, a new picnic spot located on Karwar Road, is set to open to the public after delays in its development since 2019. The Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is currently preparing for the inauguration by cleaning the lake and setting up facilities for visitors. State ministers are expected to attend the opening ceremony.

Residents in the nearby areas have eagerly awaited the inauguration. The lake area has been developed with various amenities, including viewpoints, pathways, and plantation. The HDMC has confirmed that preparations for the inauguration are ongoing, with the event anticipated to take place in the first or second week of October.

Phase-wise work has been conducted on the site, with most of the initial tasks completed. Grants of Rs 8 crore have been provided by the tourism department and HDMC for the first phase of development. Ongoing works include the construction of bunds, viewpoints, pathways, parking spaces, and ticket counters. The minor irrigation department has taken over some of the tasks, and additional funds have been sanctioned by the Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority (HDUDA).

Local residents have expressed their excitement about the new park, emphasizing the need for a space where they can relax and enjoy nature. They are hopeful that the picnic spot will open to the public soon.
