In a heartfelt tribute to its founder, the Yash Chopra Foundation (YCF) has announced the launch of the YCF Scholarship Program, coinciding with what would have been Yash Chopra’s 92nd birthday. This initiative aims to support children of Hindi film industry workers from low-income backgrounds, ensuring their contributions are recognized.
Eligible applicants must be children of registered members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The program will provide financial assistance for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in fields such as Mass Communication, Filmmaking, Production and Direction, Visual Arts, Cinematography, and Animation. Each selected candidate will receive support of up to Rs 5 lakh for their educational expenses.
Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, emphasized Chopra’s belief in giving back to the industry, stating that this initiative aims to empower the children of the Hindi film fraternity. He expressed confidence that the program will inspire deserving students to pursue their dreams and contribute to the film industry.
The selection process will include personalized interviews. Yash Chopra, known for redefining Indian cinema with iconic love stories, left a lasting legacy before his passing on October 21, 2012, shortly before the release of his last film, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan.’
