Basavaraj Deshmukh and Lakshmana Dasti have demanded that the government withdraw existing circulars related to the 371(J) reservation for Kalyana Karnataka. They are advocating for new circulars to ensure fair treatment for candidates and to prepare selection lists based on merit and roster policy.
During a recent press conference, Deshmukh expressed concerns about the state government’s handling of recruitment for 545 Police Sub-Inspector (Civil) positions. He noted that the Director General of Inspectors had requested 371(J) reservations and urged the government to follow the circular issued on June 6, 2020. Deshmukh criticized the chief minister for misleading Kalyana Karnataka candidates.
Questions were raised by a former official regarding whether candidates from Kalyana Karnataka should apply for mixed or local group positions. A new circular issued on February 1, 2023, clarified that Kalyana Karnataka candidates should be considered first for mixed group posts based on merit, with local group candidates being selected afterward.
In January 2024, a meeting was held to discuss justice for Kalyana Karnataka candidates, leading to the implementation of the February 2023 circular by the current government. Deshmukh acknowledged the efforts of officials in bringing attention to issues faced by the Kalyana Karnataka region and emphasized the need for clear and fair guidelines in the recruitment process.
