Man washed away in ditch

An incident occurred in Chikkodi early Wednesday when Gururaj Erappa Yadawad, a 75-year-old resident of Athani, fell into a ditch and drowned. Heavy rain had been reported in Chikkodi for two days, causing ditches to overflow.
On Wednesday morning, Yadawad was riding his bicycle to a temple in Athani for a religious visit. It was reported that he lost control of his bicycle and fell into the Masuba ditch. He was swept away by the strong current.
The Athani Police arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. Efforts are ongoing to understand the circumstances surrounding his death.
