The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed an all-female panel of match officials for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in Bangladesh and the UAE. The panel includes 10 umpires and three match referees to oversee the tournament.
Among the umpires, Claire Polosak, Kim Cotton, Jacqueline Williams, and Sue Redfern bring considerable experience, having officiated in previous editions. Polosak has officiated in four Women’s T20 World Cups, while Cotton and Williams, who officiated the final of the last edition, will also make their fourth appearance. Redfern, the TV umpire in the last final, is also back for her fourth tournament. Zimbabwe’s Sarah Dambanevana is set to make her T20 World Cup debut.
Sean Easey, ICC Senior Manager for Umpires and Referees, expressed pride in the all-female lineup, stating, ‘This is a great step forward for women in cricket. The selected umpires have shown exceptional performance recently, and we are confident they will excel during this prestigious event.’
The tournament will feature 10 teams, competing in 23 matches. The event begins on October 3, with the opening match between Bangladesh and Scotland in Sharjah. Teams will also play two warm-up matches starting on September 28 to prepare for the tournament.
