Chairman Jeetendra Mangalekar has filed a complaint with the police, claiming that 14 individuals, including bank staff, have defrauded Mahalakshmi Urban Cooperative Bank in Gokak Nagar. The complaint alleges that loans totaling Rs 74.86 crore were taken without repayment, with the borrowed funds misused to acquire property elsewhere.

A case has been registered at the Gokak police station against the accused, which includes five bank employees. The individuals named, such as Sagar Sabakale and Vishwanath Bagade, were reportedly in various positions at the bank. They, along with their relatives, are accused of orchestrating the fraud.

The bank was reportedly defrauded between July 2021 and April 2023. During this period, the accused deposited Rs 6.97 crore in the bank but borrowed a total of Rs 81.83 crore. The alleged embezzlement has left many customers, who deposited their savings, deeply concerned.

Following the news of the fraud, hundreds of customers protested outside the bank, expressing their anger towards the staff and management. They demanded the return of their hard-earned money, highlighting their trust in the bank’s operations.
