The main access road to the Baikampady Industrial Area is in poor condition, significantly affecting industrial operations and the daily commute of approximately 30,000 workers. Despite the road being managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), no action has been taken by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), local authorities, or elected officials.

The Kanara Industrial Association (KIA) has raised concerns about the safety risks and operational disruptions caused by the road’s state. KIA Secretary BA Iqbal highlighted that the road’s condition hampers the movement of goods and personnel, impacting the productivity and economic viability of businesses in the area. Immediate intervention is needed to prevent further damage and ensure transportation efficiency. An urgent inspection is required to assess the damage and determine necessary repairs. Additionally, a regular maintenance schedule should be implemented to prevent future deterioration.

NHAI Project Director Abdulla Javed Azmi noted that temporary measures have been taken to make the roads motorable during the rainy season. Permanent repairs will be undertaken after the monsoons. Azmi also mentioned that an action plan is in place to address potholes on the service roads near Pumpwell flyover, with repair work scheduled to begin after the rainy season.
