New Delhi

On Thursday, BJP Rajya Sabha member Dinesh Sharma criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for claiming that no development took place in the last 10 years. Sharma called Kharge’s statement baseless and defended PM Modi’s record.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Kharge accused Modi of inaugurating projects that have either collapsed or are leaking, and criticized the government’s response to floods. Kharge alleged that infrastructure initiatives, including the Ram Mandir, are failing, and accused the BJP of neglecting flood relief.

Sharma responded, stating that Kharge’s remarks are unfounded and driven by frustration. He suggested that Kharge is imagining scenarios where BJP leaders face imprisonment and he becomes Prime Minister. Sharma compared these fantasies to failed historical examples, arguing that such dreams will not materialize in a democratic country.

Addressing Kharge’s claim that Congress would have secured more seats and jailed BJP leaders, Sharma urged Kharge to explain his own wealth and focus on accountability in Karnataka. Sharma also highlighted the Modi government’s expansion of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which now benefits senior citizens over 70, contrasting it with the Congress’s lack of similar initiatives for the elderly. He praised Modi’s government for its social welfare programs, emphasizing that these efforts show a commitment to addressing the needs of senior citizens and women.
