On Day 1 of the 14th Hockey India Junior Men’s National Championship 2024, several teams claimed victories in their matches. Hockey Madhya Pradesh kicked off the day with a dominant 9-1 win over Hockey Uttarakhand. Zameer Mogammad (9′, 40′) scored twice, while Captain Ali Ahmad (5′), Tushar Parmar (12′), Almaaz Khan (15′), Sohil Ali (34′), Parochey Kartikey (53′), Saddam Ahmad (53′), and Mohd Anas (56′) each added one goal. Arpit Kumar Kohli (52′) scored the lone goal for Uttarakhand.
Hockey Chandigarh defeated Le Puducherry Hockey 9-2 in the second match. Harpreet Singh (8′, 57′), Sukhpreet Singh (14′, 27′), and Komalpreet Singh (32′, 53′) scored two goals each, with Gurpreet Singh (36′), Gurkirat Singh Othi (55′), and Captain Prabhjot Singh (59′) adding one goal each. Ayothidasan (43′) and Gurudatt Gupta (52′) scored for Le Puducherry.
Hockey Maharashtra earned a 5-0 win over Hockey Himachal, with goals from Joseph Anthony Domingo (6′), Jay Kale (39′), Kartik Ramesh Patare (46′), Amin Pranav (49′), and Sachin Rushi Rajgade (52′).
Manipur Hockey secured a resounding 15-1 victory against Goans Hockey, led by Yumkham Bidyananda Singh with five goals. Hockey Bihar and Hockey Mizoram played out a 2-2 draw, while Hockey Punjab defeated Telangana Hockey 7-0, rounding off an action-packed first day of the tournament.
