Police dept conducts peace and harmony meet

A peace and harmony meeting was organized by the Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissionerate with all religious leaders in view of the upcoming Ganesha and Eid Milad festivals. Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar emphasized the need for celebrations to proceed without incidents. He stated that any actions threatening societal peace will be met with strict measures.

Kumar urged that the focus should be on maintaining harmony, and mischief should not be attributed to any religion. He pointed out that miscreants exist across all religions and should be reported immediately. He stressed that the festivals should be celebrated in a peaceful manner, particularly as people from other districts visit during these times.

Gurusidda Rajayogindra Mahaswamiji from Moorusavira Mutt stressed the importance of collective efforts to ensure strong spiritual roots. He highlighted the need for effective administration and public responsibility to celebrate festivals peacefully.

Muslim leader Tajuddin Peer Qadri noted that while religious leaders come together, the public should also unite. He pointed out the issue of narcotic addiction and called for stricter action. Sikh Guru Gani Surendra Singh mentioned that all festivals are meant to be celebrated in unity with the divine.

Govinda Rao from Sri Gajanana Maha Mandal suggested allowing Ganesha idol immersion until 12:30 a.m. and banning gutkha advertisements in Ganesha pandals. He also recommended increasing police presence at night.
