Chelsea are considering a loan move for their English defender Ben Chilwell, with Turkey as a likely destination, according to source. Chilwell, 27, was linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge during the summer window and could potentially join Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, as Turkey’s transfer window remains open until September 18.
If the move doesn’t materialize, Chilwell would have to train separately from Chelsea’s first team until the January transfer window opens, as reported by source. Although there have been links to Fenerbahce, where former Chelsea head coach Mourinho is currently managing, no formal offer has been received from any Turkish Super Lig club yet.
Chilwell, who earns £200,000 a week, is more likely to leave on a loan deal due to the high salary, which makes a permanent transfer challenging. Chelsea, however, are open to releasing him permanently but understand the difficulties involved in securing such an agreement.
In other news, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has secured four points from the first three Premier League matches and will face Bournemouth on September 14 after the international break. Additionally, Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling moved to Arsenal on a season-long loan, finalized with a deal sheet allowing the transfer to be completed beyond the transfer deadline of August 30.
