District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has instructed MRPL officials to announce a compensation package for Project Displaced Families (PDF) affected by the acquisition of 27 acres of land for a green zone at Jokatte village. This directive was issued during a meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office, addressing concerns over the land acquisition process.
The Minister emphasized that although the report on the land acquisition may take up to three more months to be finalized, MRPL should proactively announce the compensation package before the report is complete. He stressed that the package should be acceptable to the affected residents and suggested that the survey for the report should be conducted with scientific accuracy and practicality.
Another meeting will be scheduled in two months to review progress. MRPL officials indicated that the compensation package will be disclosed once it has been approved by the board of directors. Deputy Commissioner MP Mullai Muhilan and Industrial Department Joint Director Gukuldas Nayak were present at the meeting.
Gundu Rao promises to look into Cholera outbreak

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao has announced he will investigate a suspected cholera outbreak in Channagiri, Davanagere district, reportedly linked to contaminated water consumption.
Rao emphasized that ensuring water quality falls under the jurisdiction of local municipal authorities and the urban development department. He assured that his department will provide necessary treatment and support, noting the availability of adequate hospital facilities in Davanagere.
Regarding department transfers and promotions, Rao stated that these processes should adhere to established rules and seniority. In response to BJP demands for an FIR against MLC Ivan D’Souza over remarks about Bangladesh, Rao indicated that the police will follow proper procedures.
