In a related development, BESCOM Managing Director Mahantesh Belagi has announced that BESCOM staff, including those from the vigilance department, will soon be required to record videos during meter and electricity inspections at industrial sites. This measure aims to ensure transparency and address grievances effectively.
Speaking at a dialogue program organized by the Karnataka Small Industries Association (Kasia), Belagi also mentioned that BESCOM will support industrialists facing issues during inspections, especially concerning LT 5 category permissions. He urged the association to appeal to KERC for simplified regulations similar to those for LT2, HT2A, B, and C categories. He assured that any staff causing unnecessary trouble would face strict action.
Belagi also highlighted that the circulars issued by BESCOM in February 2021 and April 2022 regarding amendments and LT meetings would be shared with the association via email. He encouraged industrialists to refer to these circulars if BESCOM staff are not adhering to guidelines and to report any non-compliance for prompt action.
