The 12th Akka Vishwa Kannada Sammelana will take place in Richmond, Virginia, USA, from August 30 to September 1, with Speaker of the Legislative Council Basavaraja Horatti attending the event. The conference will be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Basavaraja Horatti, who will serve as the chief guest, will address the Kannadigas residing in the United States and surrounding regions. He plans to discuss his experiences and ideas accumulated over more than four decades on topics including Kannada Nadu, language development, and the promotion of Kannada identity. Horatti will travel from Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore to Richmond on the night of August 28 to participate in the conference.
The Akka Vishwa Kannada Sammelana is recognized as the largest Kannada festival outside Karnataka. It will be hosted in Richmond, approximately 110 miles south of Washington, DC. The event expects to gather over 5,000 Kannadigas under one roof.
The conference will feature various activities, including concerts, discussions on Kannada Nadu and culture, and entertainment programs. Highlights of this year’s Sammelana include Karnataka delicacies, commercial and trade fairs, art and literary forums, women’s and youth forums, alumni gatherings, sports events, and health and spiritual discussions.
