A festive meal was prepared for an entire village by a grandmother using funds from the Grilakshmi scheme, a program provided monthly to housewives by the Women and Child Development Department. Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar praised the initiative and spoke with Grandmother Akkatai Langooti, who had used the scheme’s money to prepare Holige meals for the village.
The Minister expressed pleasure in the implementation of Grilakshmi, noting that the scheme is achieving its purpose. In a respectful conversation conducted in the local language, the Minister asked the grandmother when she would prepare a meal for her as well. The grandmother humorously responded that, since the Minister provides Grilakshmi funds, it was not possible for her to refuse.
The Minister appreciated the grandmother’s response and sent her a silk saree through her Public Relations Officer. Additionally, the grandmother was honored with a shawl for her efforts. The Grilakshmi Yojana is recognized for reaching households effectively and supporting those in need.
Akkatai Langooti from Suttatti village in Rayabhaga taluk has received significant praise for her use of the Grilakshmi funds to benefit her community. The state government has also acknowledged her contribution and the positive impact of the scheme.
