Two girls murdered, stepfather suspected

Must read

Two girls, aged 15 and 13, were found murdered with a machete in their Kaveri Layout residence near Hebbal on Saturday evening. Preliminary investigations suggest that their stepfather, Sumeet, around 40 years old, is the prime suspect and is currently on the run.

The victims, who were students in classes 9 and 8, had returned home from school before the attack. Their mother, Anitha, was at work at a factory between 3 pm and 4 pm when Sumeet allegedly carried out the crime. The girls were discovered with severe head and neck injuries when Anitha returned home around 8 pm and found them in a pool of blood.

Sumeet, originally from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, fled the scene after the murders. His phone is currently switched off. Anitha, a native of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, reported that Sumeet had been increasingly hostile towards her daughters over minor issues.

A case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (murder), has been registered based on Anitha’s complaint. The police have formed a special team to locate Sumeet. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sajeeth VJ visited the crime scene, and the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) collected essential evidence for the investigation.
