A photo of jailed Kannada actor Darshan enjoying a cup of coffee and a cigarette inside Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail has gone viral, raising concerns about possible preferential treatment. Darshan, who is the second accused in the kidnapping and murder case of his fan Renukaswamy, was captured in the image sitting cross-legged on a chair, seemingly relaxed and cheerful.
In the photo, Darshan is seen with his manager and two other inmates, engaged in conversation. This image has triggered suspicions that he may be receiving special privileges while in custody. Sources indicate that Darshan might be allowed more freedom within the prison, which has alarmed the family of the victim, Renukaswamy.
The murder case, involving Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others, has drawn significant public attention. Renukaswamy, who was brutally killed on June 8, was kidnapped from his hometown in Chitradurga, brought to the city, tortured, and then disposed of in a canal. The crime was discovered when security personnel at a private apartment building noticed the body being dragged by dogs.
