Cement Manjunath, State BJP SC Morcha President, criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for allegedly refusing to resign despite accusations and the possibility of jail time. At a press conference on Wednesday, Manjunath stated that Siddaramaiah, who compares himself to Devaraja Urs, is unwilling to give up his position. He accused Siddaramaiah of holding onto power firmly and insisted that the Chief Minister should resign and face an investigation. Manjunath argued that if Siddaramaiah proves his innocence, he could return to his position as Chief Minister.
Manjunath also accused the Congress party of exploiting Dalits and suggested that Congress members are criticizing the Governor because he is Dalit. He recalled an instance where a Scheduled Caste woman was promoted to a significant position, but Congress members were disrespectful. He alleged misuse of SCP and TSP funds for purposes other than intended.
The President condemned the disrespect shown towards the Governor and questioned the effectiveness of the police in handling such issues. He criticized Congress leaders for allegedly hitting the Governor’s picture with slippers and suggested that leaders who spoke against the Governor should have been arrested under the Goonda Act. Manjunath noted that no such action had been taken.
The press conference was attended by District President L Nagendra, former MLA Harshavardhan, SC and ST Morcha Presidents of Mysore urban and rural districts, and various district leaders.
