BJP workers protested by eating neem leaves, demanding the immediate harvesting of sugarcane in the Mysugar range or permission to supply it to other factories. The protest took place in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where the workers held sugarcane bagasse and neem leaves. They expressed frustration that the district administration had failed to harvest the sugarcane within the required time.
The workers criticized the factory management board and district administration for their negligence. The sugarcane has been unharvested for 14 to 15 months, causing financial difficulties for farmers. Due to the delayed harvest, farmers are unable to repay their loans, leading to jewelry auction notices from banks and court notices for crop loan payments. The farmers are facing significant distress.
The protestors warned that the Mysugar factory must harvest the sugarcane within two or three days or permit the farmers to supply it to other factories. They stated that if a farmer commits suicide due to the inability to supply sugarcane, the district administration and state government will be held directly responsible.
The protest was led by party members S Shivakumar Aradhya, Vivek, Prasannakumar, Hosalli Shivu, HK Manjunath, SC Yogesh, and others.
