Bhopal

The death toll from the wall collapse at Datia Fort in Madhya Pradesh has risen to seven, with two survivors rescued from the debris. Five of the deceased were from the same family. The collapsed wall was part of the centuries-old Rajgarh Ka Quila, which had been in poor condition and succumbed to heavy rains earlier this week. The survivors are receiving critical care in a Gwalior hospital.

Former Minister Narottam Mishra has informed Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who has promised ₹4 lakh in compensation for each victim’s family and improved medical treatment for the injured. The rescue operation, hampered by encroachments and heavy debris, took over eight hours and involved local residents, police, and the State Disaster Response Force. Chief Minister Yadav has called for vigilance as floods affect various parts of the state.
