Students of Mangalore University, after the academic year 2022-23, are facing difficulties due to a new government policy regarding mark sheets. As per the government’s rule, all universities in the state must upload mark sheets to Digi Locker, from which students are required to download them. However, the Digi Locker system is not providing mark sheets with the physical marks required by the university.

When students raised this issue with the vice chancellor, it was stated that a government order prohibits the issuance of physical mark sheets, and only the government can make changes to this policy. Students have paid a fee of Rs 230 per semester for mark sheets, yet they are not receiving accurate mark sheets despite these payments.

The university has suggested students retrieve their mark sheets through Digi Locker, a system used for several government records. However, this technology has several issues and fails to provide accurate mark sheets. Students have reported receiving digital mark sheets that lack essential details such as marks, photographs, signatures of concerned authorities, course material, and pass-fail criteria. It has been clearly stated that the digital mark sheet may differ from the university mark sheet, leading to concerns among students. These digital mark sheets, which contain multiple errors, are not being accepted by companies during employment verification. For job applications abroad, the submission of physical mark sheets is mandatory. As a result, students are facing significant difficulties due to this new policy.
