Indian Railways has introduced a new ‘water level monitoring system’ to enhance passenger comfort, with the first installation on the Brahmaputra Mail Express for trial runs. This cutting-edge system aims to ensure a steady and reliable water supply for passengers on long-distance trains.

Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), announced that the Water Level Indicator, which offers real-time monitoring, has been set up as a pilot project on the Brahmaputra Mail Express at Kamakhya Railway Station. If successful, this system could be expanded to other trains, improving overall water management.

The system uses LoRa and GPRS technology for long-range, low-power data transmission, ideal for remote areas. It includes a Hydrostatic Pressure Sensor for accurate water level measurement and features programmable data logging with time stamps for precise analysis. This initiative, led by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, promises a more comfortable journey with reliable water supply for passengers.
