Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins has expressed his excitement about the possibility of competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where cricket is set to make its return. After leading Australia to victories in the ODI World Cup, the World Test Championship, and being part of the T20 World Cup-winning team in 2021, Cummins now looks forward to potentially adding an Olympic gold medal to his impressive achievements.
Talking to sources Cummins shared his enthusiasm, saying, ‘That would be awesome. After seeing the excitement around the Paris Olympics, we’ve started getting pretty excited about the idea of playing in LA. It’s something that wasn’t on our radar before, but now it’s a real possibility.’
Cummins acknowledged the unpredictability of the future but remains hopeful about the opportunity. ‘It’s four years away, so anything can happen. But representing Australia at the Olympics would be incredibly special,’ he added.
For Cummins and his teammates, the Olympics present a new and exciting challenge. The chance to showcase their cricketing skills on one of the world’s biggest stages is an opportunity they eagerly anticipate. The 2028 Olympics could be another highlight in Cummins’ illustrious career.
Cummins has already proven his leadership, taking Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL final, although they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. He has also led Australia to victories over India in both the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals. Next on his agenda is reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the first Test against India set to begin on November 22 in Perth.
